POST-EVENT REPORT: Ozine Fest 2009 Day 3
Last April 5, our little team of minions made their way to Megamall to attend the last day of the 3-day Ozine Fest 2009 event. And was the trip worth it? Definitely.
First of all, we have to note that the event was HUGE. There were so many attendees, that Megatrade Hall 2 was literally PACKED to the point that you could barely move, and both cosplayers and attendees were spilling out into the rest of the mall’s top floor. Thankfully, our minions were clever enough to figure out that the best way to move in a crowd like that was to move from air pocket to air pocket as they were formed by clusters of photographers happily snapping away at a particular subject (protip!).
And need we mention the fantastic cosplayers who attended the event? This could barely have been a surprise, considering that the first National Cosplay Summit competition was held on that day, so cosplayers from all over pulled out all the stops and gave it everything they got. There were a good number of Bleach and Naruto cosplayers, as well as a healthy population of mech cosplayers as well.
Special mention to the mech cosplayers and their meticulous work on their costumes. They glow, they transform, they have big, nasty guns. We can almost feel the love and hard work that was put into those ensembles, and I suppose the only thing we have to ask would be, how in the world do you get those things from place to place? And to think that we once thought that having a double-layered petticoat was bulky…
Oh, and let’s not forget the maid cafe and their lovely staff. Our minions were able to try it out and we’ve been informed that the entrance fee, as well as the special services fee was particularly worth it. After all, where else can you get your waiters to dance Caramel Dansen WHILE singing the Backstreet Boys’ “As Long As You Love Me”?
We can’t wait to get to the next event!
For now, we’ll leave you with a slideshow of some of our favorite photos from that day. Enjoy!
